Navi Nayika
'Navinayika' is an adaptation of 'Ashtanayika,' a very significant treatise of performing arts based on the ancient texts of Natyashastras.
A narrative Kathak presentation featuring internationally acclaimed Kathak exponent Pali Chandra under the auspices of world-renowned Kathak maestro Padmavibhushan Pt Birju Maharaj.
'Navinayika' depicts the journey of a woman and the various facets of enduring love through a myriad of 8 expressions in its many forms. The 9th expression of the Nayika revealing the woman beyond.
Intricate technique based choreographies and delicate expressive compositions of Kathak have been used to make this production traditionally rooted yet progressive in nature. Things that talk about yesterday, based on todays realities.
A team of 7 leading musicians associated with Kathak ballets and dance dramas from India accompanied with Pali Chandra on stage.
The music score is set to the mood and the tone of the nayika's state of mind. 'Navinayika' is poetry in motion using the finest nuances of kathak - Nritta or the techniques and Nritya or the Art of Expression.
